Brandon plays acoustic music at a few local venues in Conway. When he contacted me and asked me to take photos of him with his Taylor guitar in a natural landscape, I immediately agreed. He hoped the images would be able to help establish him as a musician and add a professional finish to his profile as an artist.
I took him out to Emerald Park in Little Rock (which some may recognize from earlier blog posts), set up the octobox next to a few speedlites and shot until the sun set.
Normally, I play music through my cell phone during shoots. I tend to bring a lot of lighting equipment on location, which means my sessions contain short bouts of downtime while I build a modifier or fine-tune my strobes. I'll play alternative rock, hip-hop or electronic music, depending on my client. This time, the role was reversed; Brandon punctuated the pauses in our photo shoot with plucks on his guitar.
I hope I see these photos on a promotional flyer soon. Brandon is a talented dude and a great guy. It's fun to see his eyes perk up when he talks about the passion he has for his music.
